Got Your War Clothes On?

Today's Passage: Ephesians 6:10-18
Memory Verses: Eph. 6:10-12

Imagine a soldier in the heat of the battle, well aware that there are landmines at least three feet apart within a 100-mile radius of the route he is planning to take. Having been through basic training, and even having experienced the fiery darts of the enemy's firepower from time to time, it would be pretty foolish of him to step outside with absolutely no protection, wouldn't it? Actually, it would be nothing short of suicide. The minute that soldier puts one foot outside the door, he's sure to be riddled with bullets before he even has time to dash back in.

Sorry to be so graphic, but do we really understand the full impact of the message the Lord sent us in this passage? Our battle is not against the people the enemy uses to attack us, no matter how real their assault may appear to be. We are told that our fight involves highly organized ranks of demonic forces whose sole purpose in life is to target, and srategize ways to cause the downfall of, soldiers in the Lord's army.

So how does He admonish us to counter these potential attacks? Arise, men and women of God, and put on your strength daily. There is no de-militarized zone anywhere, and NO-ONE in our lives is off limits to the enemy. Leave not one piece of your armor at home when you walk out of your baracks. We have been equipped with everything we need to detect satan's landmines, and stand against his more subtle schemes. From the top of our heads to even the soles of our feet, we are covered as we go about the business of serving our Father.

Would it be easier to run and hide? Not really, for there are severe consequences for going AWOL in the faith. Better to stand and fight, for there are more WITH us than there are against us (2 Chron. 32:7). As you fight bravely, the Lord will send ministering spirits to strengthen and empower you. Just show up to the fight with your war clothes on.

Prayer: Father, You are my strength, the One Who teaches my fingers to war, and my hands to fight. Be my covering today and everyday. May I never step out from Your Presence, for that is where my victory lies. Let me fight the good fight of faith and make You proud. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
