Let's begin today's devotional with prayer for our own Sister Tina Miller. Get well soon Ms. Tina. We all love and miss you big time...God bless you!

Blessings Friends & Lifers! Mothers, as we all know, are special people. But not every woman deserves the title. I mean, the ability to give birth doesn't make you a mother. So often I see people raising children that aren't biologically theirs because the woman (and man) responsible for them is neglecting them. Then there are the true mothers. Mothers provide. Mothers sacrifice. Mothers protect. And mothers make room.

The foundation of true motherhood is Godly womanhood. The women I referenced earlier lack the ability to be a mother because they never first became women. The mother in our devotional today started by being a Godly woman. She, knowing the prophet Elisha was passing by, convinced her husband to make a room for him in their home (he passed through rather frequently). She knew early on that her purpose wasn't found in having a husband and a big house. Her purpose was found in using her resources for the kingdom of God. How do you know your life has purpose? Are you constantly wrapped up in things that only concern you, or do you have the spirit and character of a mother? Mothers are literally women with purpose. They give their lives making life happen for others. They often give their last to provide someone else's only. Anyway, after giving sacrificially to Elisha, Elisha was moved to bless her with what she always wanted: a child. She made room for God, and in turn, God elevated her status. He literally changed her condition.

To every mother who knows the sacrifice it takes to hold a family together, we bless you. You are the reason God smiles upon us. Your very existence brings faith into any situation, and your prayers have covered us from birth. May your sons and daughters make you swell with pride. And may God continue to bless and keep you. Thanks for making the little much and the hurt bearable. Thank you for being the first examples of faith in our lives. We love you forever.

Prayer: Father, we thank You for the mothers You have placed in our lives. We lift up every one of them today -- from the ones who are sacrificing their all to make ends meet, to the ones whom You've already shown Your favor by providing. May they continue to be Your shining examples of love on this earth. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
