The Way to Live Wisely

Today's Passage: Ephesians 5:1-17
Memory Verse: Eph. 5:15-17

Another issue that breaks my heart is that which concerns people who believe that Christian values are outdated and unnecessary.  They feel church and state should be separated, and that everyone should be given the right to live the way they want to.  God and His laws should not only be put on the back burner of our society, but some want His influence erased completely.  What's even more heartbreaking is how many believers support politicians who share this mindset.  They agree with the notion that we can fear God on Sundays, but between Mondays and Saturdays, we can't expect Him to intervene in the lives of people around us.

Every time I watch the news and see how far away from God's laws we are getting, I realize how close to end-time prophecy we are.  By the time the rapture occurs, the spirit of Antichrist will have skillfully removed every trace of godliness possible from our society and replaced it with rebellion against God.  With these things in mind, what should be the attitude of those of us who know the truth?

Today's passage admonishes us to remain in the light of the Lord, remembering His commandments even while others turn away, thinking they can escape having to give account of their deeds to Him.  We are reminded to come out from among them and be separate, not joining in their opinions or taking the side of any who claim "pro-choice" over God's laws.  But at the same time, God wants us to interact with them compassionately, remembering that at one time our minds were also against God, desiring only to please our flesh.  We are to love them, pray for them, and shine with God's glory before them.

Sound impossible?  Remember that with the Father nothing is impossible.  Wherever we are, there is always the possibility of bringing the kingdom to that place.  No need to fear, because they are not rejecting us; they're rejecting the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  But no matter what, always live to bring His will to pass.  That, Saints, is the way to live wisely.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the blueprint You've left me in these evil days.  As I keep my eyes on You, show me how to live wisely.  Make me ever ready to meet Your Son, and get all the glory out of my life.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
