Today's Passage: Genesis 8:1-9:17
Memory Verse: Genesis 9:16

*Taken from today's E100 challenge

Like many of you, I've dropped the ball more times than I can remember.  But God always shows up with grace and mercy.  In today's passage, mankind became full of sin and violence.  No matter how God tried to get their attention, they became more and more lawless.  I remember when I lived a life that rejected God.  I purposely used things of the world to try to drown out His voice.  Like mankind during that day, a life in service to God was far from my mind.

When I finally came to my senses, the rainbow appeared.  The rainbow only appears in a life that has nothing left but devotion to God.  See, the rainbow is a sign of a covenant.  And God can't strike a covenant with bad habits.  Nor can He strike a covenant with selfish ambitions.  So, He loves us enough to strip away those things.  And although the stripping is never easy, it's always necessary.  Also, when its over, you come out fresh and new.  Imagine how Noah felt when the dove brought back the branch.  Nothing is more reassuring than getting a peek at life during a season of death.  If Noah were able to talk to us today, he'd probably tell us how difficult it was on the ark.  He'd probably describe the aggravation of being on the water all that time.  "How long do we have to stay here"? He probably asked.  Although we sometimes lose sight of God's will when we aren't comfortable, we must remember God's chastisement is as essential to growth as His blessings.

In conclusion, be obedient to God inspite of the circumstnces.  If He tells you to build a boat in the midst of a drought, do it.  There's a divine purpose and plan on all our lives, therefore, it's important for us to stay focused.  Be encouraged in the fact that God's purpose leads to promise.  He won't lie to us or leave us hanging.  That's why He sends the rainbow.  He wants to remind us we have a promise.  He wants to remind us that a new beginning is on the horizon.  So look for the rainbow He placed in your life.  No matter how high the waters rise, He'll be there.  And soon, you'll be on solid ground again.  Blessings...

Prayer:  Lord, I'm so glad I get to live in Your grace.  I know there were times I rejected You, but now, I live in Your covenant.  I belong to You.  I appreciate this oneness I have with You.  Your love is so amazing.  So I choose to stay with You forever....in Jesus' name. Amen
