Today's Passage: Philippians 3: 12-20
Memory Verse:Phil. 3: 18-20

Never before has what Charles Dickens said made more sense than the day in which we live: "It's the best of times, and the worst of times."  It's the best of times because it's the greatest era to be alive, with some type of technology reaching almost every home on the planet.  This means that the gospel of the kingdom has the opportunity to be spread as widely as that technology, just like it said in the Word.

But the fact that this is the worst of times can be seen in the way humanity seems to be replaced by an attitude of get-all-you-can as fast as you can.  No matter who is hurt in the process, no matter who gets left behind, every commercial for whatever product is being sold calls out to buyers to never be satisfied until they have better things than the next person.  Moral values continue to lose their impact, while popularity and the quest for riches at any cost takes top priority.

So for those of us who know that there's more to life, now more than ever before we need to hold on to the fact that this is not our home, but we are preparing to live somewhere in eternity depending upon  either our loyalty to the Father, or to His archenemy.  Today's passage warns us not to become too comfortable in our skins on this earth, for to do so will cause us to lose sight of the priorities that should keep us pressing toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of Christ.  It actually says that those who only make plans for this life and living on this planet are really enemies of the cross.  But those who focus on heaven where Christ lives are citizens of heaven.

No matter what you are going through today, we want to encourage you to keep your eyes on the kingdom of God and its righteousness.  Everything your heart desires will be added unto you as it falls within the will of your Father.  This type of attitude will give you a positive attitude when the situation looks too bleak to even smile.  It will help you focus on what's really important -- leaving a footprint on this earth that points others to the way of loving and living for God.  I pray that we all will be propelled into the destinies God has prepared for us, knowing that we have only a small window to shine for Him.

Prayer: Father, I've already wasted so much valuable time on this earth chasing after things that bring only temporary satisfaction.  Thank You for continuing to remind me that I have a short time to complete the destiny that You sent me to accomplish.  Help me live daily to prepare for life with You.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
