That Still, Small Voice

Today's Passage: Proverbs 2:1-5
Memory Verse: Same

Okay, you're about to do something really crazy.   You're really scared because it's a bad bad thing to do, but you have to, right?  Just before following through, "something" says "Don't do it!". You know you shouldn't ignore it, but you do it anyway.

We've all been in this spot a few times (okay a lot).  The question is: why do we keep ignoring the voice?  That voice in your head is God's.  God has placed a portion of Himself in all of us.  He's there to keep us on the path He's ordered.  He knows in order to maintain a relationship, we must be close.  We must be able to hear Him to know Him.  We must be able to feel Him to see Him.  To truly be the image of God, we have to be keenly aware of His presence; always ready to respond to His voice.

Ignoring the Voice is like ignoring the red light at the busiest intersection in town.  When you do it, rest assured, something bad is bound to happen.  You can't afford to cut yourself off from the One who truly loves you.  He knows what's ahead.  You don't.  You can't yet see that what you're about to do is a setup.  You don't understand the enemy of your soul turns innocent fun into serious trouble.  Think of your own children.  If you see them about to do something that you know will hurt them now, or in the long run, do you let them do it?  No, you don't.  You scream it.  You yell it.  You do whatever it takes to save your baby.  Inasmuch as you are the child of the Most High,  He does whatever it takes to get through to you.   Proverbs 2:1-5 says "My child,  if  you receive my words, and store up  my commands within you, by making  your ear  attentive to wisdom, and  by turning  your heart  to understanding, indeed, if you call out for  discernment  – raise your voice  for understanding, if you seek it like silver, and search for it  like hidden treasure, then you will understand  how to fear the Lord, and you will discover knowledge about God."

I challenge you to draw closer to God through obedience.  The more you show accountability to Him, the more He'll trust you with.  Besides, listening to Him will keep you out of trouble.  Follow the steps He's ordered for you.  You'll do good to always listen to that Still, Small Voice.

Prayer: Father, I am so grateful that You desire the best for me. Every morning, I will rise up and seek Your wisdom. I will be still and listen for Your Voice. I depend on You for my direction and destiny. May I never mistake the voice of a stranger for Yours.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
