First of all, the simple premise is if you have no character, you have no fight. The devil knows if he can get us to fall out of agreement with who God says we are, he wouldn't have to worry about us becoming someone who can resist him. What does God think about character? In Proverbs, He says it's (a good name) better than gold (riches).
Character plays a BIG part!!! Our charater is a Billboard for the Father. However, This is the very reason HYPOCRITE was birthed... Have you ever seen a Muslim being called a hypocrit?. Have you ever heard an atheist being called a hypocrite? I haven't!!! because there character shows what they believe and who they believe in. I believe This word (hypocrite) was designed for the Christians because it is used the most regarding us, our life style our CHARACTER... so character is everything! it reflects who WE BELIEVE IN!!!!
