Today's Passage: Joshua 2:3-4
Memory Verse: Joshua 6:17
One of the tests of being totally devoted to God is the crossroad of doing what you gotta do and doing what God said to do. I know, I know, the answer to this dilemma SHOULD be a no-brainer, but it's sometimes easier said than done. We're often put in positions where tough choices have to be made. These choices sometimes hurt people we don't mean to hurt. They can affect relationships in adverse ways, and that's only if we choose God's path. That's right. Total devotion will cost you something. It'll get folks out of your life that never should've been in it. It'll also take you to levels you've never been before.
Remember Rahab? Rahab was a harlot in Jericho. She had a house near the gates of the city, making it easy for her to do whatever she wanted. Joshua sent two spies into Jericho and she hid them in her home. She vowed to keep silent as long as the Israelites spared her and her family. As I said, total devotion can be difficult when you're being called away from what you've always known. Old habits, relationships, and hang-out spots will be eliminated when you decide to be devoted. However, once the decision has been made, the reward will outweigh the aggravation by leaps and bounds. When Rahab hid the spies in her home, her life was never the same. No longer was she identified by her past. She instantly went from harlot to hero. Also, because of her TOTAL devotion (even in the face of her king), God wiped out everyone and everything in her past. She, not the college brother, or the pretty sister, was used to bring salvation to her family. She used her devotion to make God famous in her family.
So make the right choice today. You can do it. Total devotion to God will set you up to be blessed beyond measure. It doesn't matter about your past. Just like Rahab, the moment you decide to cling to the Father, you'll never be the same again.
Prayer: Father, I hear You calling me higher and deeper in You. Thank You for choosing me to make You famous. Help me focus on the glory and not the pain it costs me. I cling to You now and always. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
